St. Francis of Assisi is proud to announce that we are hosting our very first Eco Fair on Tuesday, May 2nd from 9:15-10:15, during Education Week. Parents are welcome to pop into the Learning Commons and check out all of our student-lead exhibits. We are also very excited to share that we are almost ready to start building our Outdoor Classroom in the primary yard. This a very exciting project for our school. The Eco Patrol has done an amazing job at sharing their ideas of what an outdoor learning space looks like. We are all so proud of them and can’t wait to have our first class enjoy this space.

Here is a sneak peek of what you will see at our Eco Fair.

  1. Staples Booth - See how we collect old writing instruments and toner cartridges for recycling.

  2. Pizza Boxes - Do you wonder what we do with all those boxes?

  3. Plastic Bag Grab - Check our our amazing partnership with Holy Cross School. See how many bags we have saved from our landfills. Learn about our next Plastic Bag Grab challenge in partnership with Walmart.

  4. Outdoor Classroom - Want to know where it will be and how we will build it? You’ve come to the right booth!

  5. Newspaper Compost Bin Liners - We make them all on our for the compost bins. Learn in quick easy steps how to make them.

  6. My Pet Rock - Want to adopt one of these sweet rocks? It’s only $1.00 per rock to adopt them. Monies raised will go towards paint for the tires that have been donated. The tires will be used in our outdoor classroom and to plant flower gardens. We thank you in advance for you donations and for making a difference in our school!

Each of the students booths have been organized and presented to promote environmental sustainability through literacy, mathematics, science and the arts.
