Good Evening,

We have had an update in regards to the current labour situation with our CUPE members. To clarify, these members are our Educational Assistants, Early Childhood Educators, Library Technician and our school Office Administrators. This morning the Board updated their website with the following information:

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) representing education workers across the province announced at 10:00 am this morning (Wednesday, October 2, 2019) they will be escalating strike action to full withdrawal of services effective October 7, 2019 should a settlement not be reached by the end of the day October 6, 2019.

We will provide updates to our school communities as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued prayers, patience and understanding.

Please continue to check the for updates and call me should you have any questions.

This is truly a dynamic group of people who will positively influence our students’ and staff’s school experience!

Our iWalk day was today and Fizz the Beaver was in attendance!  Our parent survey closes on October 3rd so please take the time to complete it via this link:  to the School Active Transportation Family Survey for St. Francis of Assisi

As stated in my last communication, Oct 4th is the Feast Day of Saint Francis and to honour this day we will be spending time outside as well as having a Pet blessing ceremony from 4:00 - 4:30 PM by Deacon Steve from Divine Infant Parish. Additional information for this event is as follows: we will meet by the flagpole at the front of the school, not in the schoolyard as previously indicated, and please ensure animals are on a leash or in a carrier.

Lastly, thank you to those parents who have contacted the school to indicate that the process to purchase school pictures is not currently working. I will be in touch with Edge Imaging to let them know of the difficulties.

Have a wonderful evening,

Michelle McGarry
