Good Evening,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Family Day Weekend!

This week we will be having Pizza Day on Thursday.

Scholastic Book Fair is ongoing until Thursday evening. Please note, we will be closing down at 7:00 pm instead of 8:00 pm on Thursday. Your child’s teacher will provide more specifics regarding when classes will be visiting the Fair this week.

Our next Spirit Assembly will be taking place this coming Monday, February 24th at 2:30. Students are encouraged to wear Phoenix Wear! All are welcome to attend. We will gather as a community to kick off our Lenten Campaign. This year we have been partnered with Chugu Primary School in Kenya. We will be exchanging information through student-made videos and both schools will regularly pray for each other during Lent. To learn more about this school, feel free to look it up through Google Earth and see the information on the attached file.

Specifically, we have been asked by Chalice to raise funds for teacher’s office improvements and equipment. This will occur through $2 donation on each of the following Spirit Days:

Fri, Feb 28th: PJ Day

Fri, March 6th: Wacky Tacky Day

Fri March 13th: Tropical Day

Fri March 27th Sports Fan Day

Fri April 3rd: Around the World Day

Wed April 8th: Colour Grade Day

Kinder: Pink, Gr 1: Purple, Gr 2: Blue, Gr 3: Green, Gr 4: Yellow, Gr 5: Orange, Gr 6: Red

Many thanks for all of your generous support for our Dance A Thon! Your fundraising efforts will be a great help to our student’s educational experiences! We will announce the total amount raised at Monday’s Spirit Assembly and our top two students will get to throw whip cream pies in the face of Mrs Birch, Mrs Conway and myself!

Ash Wednesday: We will be honouring the start of Lent as we focus even more to be more kind and forgive others like Jesus calls us to do. Liturgies will take place in the morning in each of the classes which will support discussion and prayer around this very important day in our liturgical year.

Pink Shirt Day: Do you want to make a stand for encouraging, supporting and lifting each other up and against bullying? Not only is next Wednesday Ash Wednesday but it is also Pink Shirt Day! Here is a great website to help support your child https://www.pinkshirtday.ca/resources. We are hoping to see many pink shirts being worn on this day.

March 3rd - French pathway forms due if your child is in Grade 3 or 6.

March Break begins on March 16th.

March 24th will be the Leaving Ceremony Pictures!

As always, many thanks for a great partnership between home and school.

With much appreciation,

Michelle McGarry
