Oct 28th Family Newsletter

Good Evening!

It was wonderful to see so many of our families out enjoying our Havest Dance last Friday.  Many, many thanks to our amazing School Council for putting on this community-building event!

Halloween: Please ensure costumes are culturally sensitive and not too scary for our younger students.  Students are encouraged to be $1 to support our OCSB Charitable Campaign.

Remembrance Day Ceremony: Poppies will begin to be sold tomorrow.  We hope all can attend our Ceremony taking place from 10:45 - 11:45 on November 11th.

Progress reports and accompanying IEPS  will be sent home tomorrow for Grade 1 to 6 students.  The progress report is not a mark based report card, but rather a communication tool focused on learning skills and academic progress to date. If a child is progressing with difficulty, the next steps for home and school will be detailed.

Please note that if your son or daughter has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that contains either modifications or alternative expectations, a copy will accompany the progress report.

A reminder that my signature on the progress report verifies that this is a recognized provincial report card that will be placed in your child’s Ontario Student Record. Teachers are responsible for specific comments and assessments. If you have any questions related to the comments or assessments please contact the classroom teacher directly.

Interviews provide the opportunity for an early discussion of your child’s strengths and needs so that we might best work together in supporting your son or daughter’s achievement. They will be 10 minutes in length and occur on Thursday, Nov 14th from  4:10 - 8:10 with dinner from 5:30 -6:00. A sign-up link will be communicated to you in the next few days.

Thank you for your continued collaboration and support as we work together to provide the best possible education for your child!

School Photos: a message from the photo company

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Your child's photos from your recent photo day are currently being processed in our Canadian lab, and will be ready to view soon. In the meanwhile, we wanted to let you know that your school has been hand-picked to be part of our exciting, environmentally-friendly initiative for ordering school photos!

We’re saving trees and your memories this year by switching to online-only ordering for fall photos on our brand-new ordering site optimized for mobile, tablet and desktop experiences.

By logging in to order online, you’re ensuring your students’ photos are archived on our secure, Canadian servers to be available to you in the future. You’re also helping us reduce waste while unlocking access to innovative specialty products and perks like free shipping on orders over $50! Pretty great, huh?

We recognize that ordering online may not be feasible for everyone. If this is you, please let your school office know as soon as possible that you require a paper order form.

If you have any questions or require assistance with ordering, please give our customer care team a call at 1-888-416-3343.

Keep smiling :)

- The Edge Team
